Some 170 pubs in London will sell the drink, which has garnered a cult following among health-conscious consumers, from tomorrow (24 October).
Low in sugar
Berkshire-based company Lo Bros Kombucha will supply the drink, with original and ginger & lemon flavours of the drink available at Greene King venues.
As the drink contains less than 1g of sugar per 100ml, it has become popular in the UK with customers interested in healthy alternatives to alcohol products. The drink contains beneficial probiotics and antioxidants that support gut health, and is known for its fizzy, sour taste.
The drink will be available from £3.40 per 330ml bottle.
Dom Dalton, general manager of Lo Bros said he was excited the company would have a role in providing customers with a wider selection of non-alcoholic beverages in the group’s pubs.
Undiscovered flavour profile
He explained: "We're witnessing kombucha grab the attention of consumers in multiple ways, in association with the health and wellbeing categories, and as a new non-alcoholic beverage that offers an undiscovered flavour profile.
“We’re still on the cusp of kombucha being readily available en masse but there is, without doubt, a high level of interest in the market, and by partnering with Greene King, we believe that the influential on-trade leader has chosen to speak to societal interests, acting as a pioneer in the category.”
Lo Bros Kombucha launched in May this year and its kombucha range includes five flavours of original, ginger & lemon, raspberry & lemon, passion fruit, and apple.
