The bar is located at the grand Waldorf Hilton hotel in Aldwych, in the heart of central London's theatreland.
Elba became a household name after he starred in US drama The Wire, and has spent the last couple of years fending off rumours he will be the next actor to play James Bond.
The Hackney-born actor is working in partnership with twin brothers Lee and Nicky Caulfield to open the Parrot. The brothers currently act as the co-owners of luxury alcoholic ice cream brand Cheers, stocked by bars and hotels in the capital, in addition to working in the film and music industry.
Inspiration for a range of 15 signature cocktails has come from different types of parrots, in addition to promises of a secret drinks menu. Food at the bar will be created by the hotel’s resident executive chef, Karl Richardson, and celebrate the tropical theme.
'Crazy side project'
Nicky tweeted about the “crazy side project” earlier this summer, and said the bar would feature music from a five-piece live house band every evening. Different guest performers, direct from the theatreland district, will take a Yamaha partnership stage to cover popular hits.
With a 60-guest capacity, the bar will present itself as an intimate venue, with features for VIP customers set to include secret music shows and access to a branded, chauffeur-driven car for special guests.
'Arrive in style'
A tweet from the bar stated: “The Parrot London invites you to arrive in style, in partnership with @astonmartin, we will be the first bar in London to offer its own chauffeur-driven car.
“Experience the luxuries of the world’s most beautiful four-door sports car, ensuring you always make an entrance!”
An exact opening date has not yet been announced, but the bar promised social media followers it would open its doors this month.
