Promoted: solicitor Steve Burnett is now an associate at the licensing law firm Poppleston Allen

Alcohol licensing law firm Poppleston Allen has announced a promotion for solicitor Steve Burnett to associate as of this month.

Burnett has more than 16 years' experience working as an alcohol licensing solicitor.

Since joining the firm in 2001, he has developed expertise in the handling of licensing issues for small to medium-sized pubs, in addition to restaurants and retailers across the country.

Lisa Sharkey, managing partner at the law firm, said: “I am delighted that we are further strengthening our firm with the promotion of Steve Burnett to associate.

“For over a decade now he has delivered high-quality licensing advice and exceptional service to our diverse client base.

“In fact, Steve’s reputation as a leading solicitor is such that he is now a sought-after commentator for many of the leading licensing magazines and events.”

Enviable reputation

Sharkey continued: “And as a result, not only has Steve built an enviable reputation for himself, but has also strengthened the firm’s position as the leading legal advisers to the licensed trade.”

The firm, which has offices based in Nottingham’s Lace Market and central London, now has three associates, working with eight partners, six solicitors and 41 additional support staff.

It represents brands including Jamie’s Italian, Wagamama, Côte Restaurants, Bill’s, Kopparberg, Selfridges, PizzaExpress, Mitchells & Butlers, ASK Italian, Zizzi Restaurants, YO! Sushi and Stonegate Pub Company.

Staff at the firm focus on alcohol licensing, associated regulations, and betting and gaming.
