Stonegate to reopen Glasgow Walkabout bar after £500,000 refit
Owned by pub chain Stonegate, Glasgow’s Walkabout bar will reopen its doors on Monday 3 September, just in time for the return of students attending the city’s universities.
Boasting two bars, booths, large, state-of-the-art screens, a high-quality sound system and tiered stadium seating for watching sport broadcasts, the £500,000 refurbishment is likely to impress many sports fans.
A Felson’s Cocktail Lounge & Stick Bar is now a part of the venue, a new introduction to the city. The iNTERTAIN bar takes inspiration from 1950s American eight-ball legend Fast Eddie Felson and has city venues across the UK.
Pubgoers can enjoy the usual staples from a wide selection of craft beers and wines, in addition to Aussie Twist cocktails in cans like Sex on Bondi Beach and Peach Melba.
Taste of Australia
A food menu inspired by life Down Under will offer guests a taste of contemporary Australia, including burgers, parmis, and barbecue platters.
Food promotions will include a weekday Aussie lunch deal for £6, a burger and drink combo starting from £4, and Wing Wednesdays with 50 crispy chicken wings for £16.
To celebrate the reopening, there will be a club night called Back & Forth on Saturday 8 September, which features live music performances from Flip and Fill, Ultrabeat and Keyes. Attendees have also been promised jaw-dropping street performers, stilt walkers and fire breathers.
Laid-back Aussie socialising
Senior general manager Kevin Buchanan said: “We’ve invested hugely in the venue and are incredibly proud to show off the revamped bar and its brilliant night-time offering.
“We can’t wait to bring back the art of laid-back Aussie socialising and showcase the best venue in Glasgow in which to enjoy sport. That paired with fresh food and the great drink, we’re sure we won’t disappoint.
“Make sure you pre-book so you don’t miss out. In a first for Glasgow, we’ll also be introducing a Felson’s Cocktail Lounge & Stick Bar as a brand new concept. There really isn’t anything else like it in town.”
