Opening in the capital: Stonegate Pub Company plans to expand its Popworld chain

Stonegate Pub Company club chain Popworld will add seven sites to its growing portfolio and open its first venue in the capital before the end of 2018.

Popworld Watling Street, located in St Paul's, City of London, will become the club brand’s 27th site when it opens its doors for the first time on Friday 7 September following a £280,000 investment.

The Stonegate Pub Company chain will mark the occasion by hosting an action-packed weekend of live entertainment, including a VIP party on Friday 7 September and a performance by the Cheeky Girls on Saturday 8 September.

Popworld brand manager Jamie Rosenfeld said: “We are so excited to bring Popworld to central London for the first time.

“We have had such great success over the past few years and are continuing to grow as a brand, throwing unforgettable parties across the UK.

“With this new site we can’t wait to show off what we are all about and provide a great party for all the people all across the capital.”

The move comes as part of a wider expansion, which saw the chain open its first site in Manchester on 24 August – its 26th venue – and will see Popworld expand to 35 sites before the end of 2018.

In addition to the London and Manchester venues, Popworld sites will soon be arriving in Norwich, Leeds, Bolton, Hartlepool and Morecambe, delivering close to 200 jobs in the process.

Stonegate Pub Company’s head of marketing Alan Armstrong said: “We are incredibly proud to see the Popworld brand go from strength to strength since our launch in 2014.

“Not only are we opening seven new bars this year, but we are also making our way to large cities such as Manchester and London for the very first time.

“Each of our venues not only provides a great atmosphere and amazing selection of cocktails but also a safe, fun and memorable evening for all of our valued customers.”
