The Mr Fogg’s Society of Exploration bar will take customers on a travel adventure inspired by the novel Around The World in 80 Days, with decor including a life sized Victorian-style train carriage, map room, and hidden wonders.
The new venue is situated on Bedford St, near Charing Cross station, where Phileas Fogg and his companion Jean Passepartout left to travel around the world.
Regular evening events will take visitors on global drinking adventures, from cocktail masterclasses to spirit tasting sessions.
An ingenious machine will see drinks made in a chain reaction on the press of a button, inspired by the US engineer Rube Goldberg.
Multi-sensory experience
A multi-sensory menu will follow the style of an explorer’s journal and chart nine extraordinary areas of the Earth. Different chapters will focus on locations from the Sahara Desert to the North Pole to the Great Barrier Reef.
The food menu will include Mr Fogg’s favourite refreshments including toasted crumpets, croquettes, meat and cheese boards.
The immersive 210-capacity bar will be open from 4pm to midnight every day.
More openings
A new Mrs Fogg’s venue on Liverpool St, focused on the Indian origins of Mr Fogg’s wife Aouda will also open in the autumn. More Mr Fogg's sites are planned to follow in 2019.
With an exotic flora and fauna theme, Mr Fogg’s House of Botanicals opened in June in Fitzrovia, joining the Mr Fogg’s Tavern and Mr Fogg’s Gin Parlour venues in Covent Garden and the Mr Fogg's Residence bar in Mayfair.
Society co-founder and keen traveller, Charlie Gilkes, said: “It’s been five years since we opened our first Mr Fogg’s, we’re thrilled to add a fifth venue to the collection and look forward to welcoming anyone with a love of travel, cocktails, or both to The Society of Exploration!”
