The report, first released at The Cider Summit in Bristol, contains the latest data and insight about cider, as well as exclusive interviews with leaders in the sector.
Insightful stats from Westons Cider Report 2018 help to set the scene of what is going on in UK cider, while we also explore how the US is doing in comparison.
Trends, new products and interesting perspectives on the future of the category, as well as what could hold it back, are also set out on the pages.
In a special introduction for the book, ciderologist Gabe Cook says: “What gives me confidence and inspiration is seeing the spectacular growth in cider all over the world.
“I am privileged to incorporate a large degree of travel into more work and the past 12 months has seen me working across the UK as well as in France, Luxembourg, Switzerland and New Zealand.
“I can tell you that, without a shadow of a doubt, many of the finest ciders on the planet are being made outside of these shores.”
However, he goes on to say that the UK, as the biggest producer of cider globally, has the heritage and means to make its products the envy of the rest of the world.
“Yet, when I look at the UK, I don’t always see the same high-value perception, the same use of stylistic descriptors or the same level of geekery,” Cook continues.
“These are crucial times for the cider sector in the UK, but I am confident that by using the full assets of the skilled and passionate producers and advocates available at its disposal, the industry will be able to raise the bar.”
