The 10 pubs selected by MatchPint will each win £500 to spend kitting out a dedicated VIP area in their venue as well as a plaque or trophy commemorating their inclusion.
In addition, the top 10 pubs will be listed on MatchPint’s ‘best pubs to watch the World Cup’ page – which is expected to attract around 400,000 visits during the course of the summer.
Dominic Collingwood, co-founder of MatchPint, said: “The World Cup only comes around every four years. We know that every pub will be trying to maximise the potential benefits of it.
“We want to recognise pubs that provide the very best fan experiences and help them get as many fans through their door as possible this summer.”
The competition is open to any UK pub and is not restricted to venues currently on MatchPint.
To enter, all pubs need to do is tell MatchPint how they’ve gone above and beyond for their sports customers, what they’ve got planned for their punters during this summer’s World Cup, and supply an image and video demonstrating the atmosphere in their venue while showing sport.
Pubs have until Friday 4 May to enter via MatchPint’s website.
In 2017, more than 1.3m people used MatchPint to find a pub to watch sport in, with more than 2,200 venues currently listed.
The announcement of MatchPint’s competition follows news that AB InBev brand and World Cup sponsor Budweiser would be joining forces with the marketing platform throughout this summer’s tournament.
