Ei sets up pub group with two former M&B employees

The 10th managed investment partnership between Ei Group and existing trade operators is ready to launch.

Called the Old Spot Pub Company, the new business has recruited two ex-Mitchells & Butlers (M&B) employees – David Ford and Bernard O’Neil – as director consultants. Ford has a background stretching back more than two decades working for companies including Scottish & Newcastle and Pizza Hut as well as M&B. O’Neill was M&B’s head of productivity.

They join directors James Croft, Lucy Bell, Nathan Wall and secretary Loretta Togher in the new venture, which currently has one pub in the pipeline. Its details will be released in the next month or so.

Ei’s managed investments division aims to identify experienced operators who are able to create businesses that deliver strong financial returns.

The nine partnerships already up and running are mostly based in and around London, delivering a range of different offers tailored to their local markets. They are: Hippo Inns, Frontier Pubs, Marmalade Pubs, Bestplace, Mash Inns, Hunky Dory Pubs, Dirty Liquor, Six Cheers and Hush Heath Inns.
