Brewery launches beer to celebrate royal wedding
The brew from Windsor & Eton Brewery, called Harry & Meghan’s Windsor Knot, is a limited-edition version of its original beer Windsor Knot, which was first brewed for the marriage of Prince Harry’s brother, Prince William to Kate Middleton.
Like the original, this pale ale will be the only royal wedding beer brewed in Windsor, according to the brewery’s website.
Special blend
Its website also stated the beer was inspired by the couple’s first public appearance together at the Invictus Games in Toronto, Canada, last year.
The brew includes a special blend of hops called Invicta in recognition of Prince Harry’s role in creating the games, combined with American West Coast hops.
It highlighted that as with all of its beers, Windsor & Eton Brewery uses barley grown locally on the royal farms in Windsor and this brew will include Champagne yeast.
The beer will be available in 330ml bottles with a 4.5% ABV and in cask at 4% ABV. The design on the bottle and pump clip features a tie, made out of the Union flag and the Stars and Stripes flag, and has two interlocking male and female symbols.
Modern marriage
The website also said: “When Harry and Meghan tie the knot, it will be very much a modern marriage of equals as well as being a celebration of their British and American nationalities.
“Each of them have causes that they care deeply about such as the environment, equal rights and the rehabilitation of injured servicemen and women. We chose the interlocking symbols to reflect the strength and support they give each other.”
The beer will be launched on 28 March at the brewery’s Royal Farm Shop with the first orders being delivered from Tuesday 3 April.
