HIT Training appoints new licensed academy principal

The hospitality industry’s largest training provider has appointed Jeremy Scorer as principal of its new Licensed Retail Academy.

Scorer became the youngest pub tenant in Nottingham when he and his wife ran their first pub at the age of 24, before establishing and running hospitality training organisation Charnwood Training for 19 years. He has long held ambitions to establish a training academy for the pub sector.

Speaking about his new role, Scorer said: “I’m delighted to join the HIT team and am looking forward to getting the new Licensed Retail Academy up and running in the next few months.

“It’s my absolute passion to help aspiring individuals to develop multi-skilled careers in the hospitality sector and through the different academy masterclasses – such as brewing sessions and courses on wine and food pairings – we’re aiming to provide a clear progression pathway for apprentices and support them in the pursuit of their own aspirations.”

The academy will provide industry masterclasses to equip apprentices in the pub and licensed sector with unique learning and experience to bolster their career aspirations, building upon the work of the HIT Chef Academy.

'Exciting time'

HIT Training managing director Jill Whittaker added: “We’re thrilled to welcome Jeremy to HIT. He is an expert in training and development within the sector and his knowledge of all areas within the licensed retail industry is second to none.

“It’s an exciting time for us at HIT Training as we look to develop our academy offer following the phenomenal success of the Chef Academy. The Licensed Retail Academy will sit alongside this and work in unison to provide apprentices with a country-wide curriculum of bespoke training masterclasses.”

Founded in 2006, HIT Training has supported more than 100,000 learners across 20,000 employer sites across the country.
