Known locally as a great place to watch sport, the Australian themed bar's overhaul will see the introduction of bleachers (tiered seating), two projector screens and 20 high definition TVs to enhance live screening experience – ideal for supporters who miss out on tickets to the Amex Stadium to watch Premier League first-timers and local club Brighton & Hove Albion.
The go-to sports bar has also already pencilled live boxing with a screening of the rematch between David Haye and Tony Bellew on 17 December.
Designers have also given a gentle nod to the bar’s seaside surroundings with the introduction of deckchairs as part of an improvement to the bar and dining facilities. Walkabout’s food menu plays on it's Australian heritage and includes a dedicated Parmi and barbecue section, sharing dishes and party platters all of which can be washed down with a broad selection of craft beers, wines and a range of Aussie Twists cocktails in cans.
Busy festive period
Walkabout will also reopen in time to take bookings for Christmas parties – with options ranging from a three-course meal, buffet, or simply some festive drinks.
General manager David Austin commented: “We cannot wait to show off our brand-new bar to everyone in Brighton. Our customers love the little bit of the outback that we have brought to Brighton and with the introduction of some fantastic new concepts and our brilliant deals, we certainly won’t disappoint!"
Walkabout will show off its new and improved late-night experience on Thursday 14 December with a Grand VIP Launch Night featuring a Champagne reception for those on the guest list and a debut for ‘Pianos on Fire’ – a brand-new concept involving two duelling pianos, customer requests, and covers of chart hits.
Walkabout Brighton is part of the Stonegate Pub Company's stable of 692 pubs and will reopen with hours of 11am until 3am, seven days a week.
