Title-chasing United and City face stuttering London giants

Though the talking points from the world of sport this weekend will almost certainly be generated by Sunday’s double-header at the Premier League’s summit, there’s a huge selection of sport to choose from this weekend.

Super Sunday

  • Manchester City v Arsenal – Premier League – Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports Main Event – kick-off 2.15pm (Sunday 5 November)
  • Chelsea v Manchester United – Premier League – Sky Sports Premier League, Sky Sports Main Event – kick-off 4.30pm (Sunday 5 November)

Having both ensured safe passage to the latter stages of the Champions League in midweek, Manchester United and Manchester City’s attentions return to the domestic front.

Jose Mourinho revisits Stamford Bridge to take on former club Chelsea – who succumbed to a heavy defeat away to AS Roma during the week.

Pep Guardiola’s seemingly unstoppable Manchester City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad Stadium hoping to add to the 35 goals they have scored in their opening 10 games – breaking a scoring record set in the 1894-95 season in the process.

Record breakers

  • St Johnstone v Celtic - Scottish Premiership – Sky Sports football – kick-off 12.30pm (Saturday 4 November)

A high-profile match will get the weekend’s proceedings under way when Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic have the chance to break a century-old British record at Saturday lunchtime. Should they avoid defeat away at St Johnstone, the Bhoys will extend their unbeaten domestic run to 63 games and break a record they set between 1915 and 1917.

German giants clash

  • Borussia Dortmund v Bayern Munich – Bundesliga – BT Sport 2 – kick-off 5.30pm (Saturday 4 November)

A huge draw for football’s purists. Separated by just three points after 10 games, German football’s flagship fixture takes place in the context of a closer title race than is usually expected. Having lost manager Carlo Ancelotti fewer than 10 games into their season, Bayern have shown the green shoots of recovery under the returning Jupp Heynckes but face their first major domestic test under him against Dortmund on Saturday evening.
