Pub chefs have kitchen skills that diners can only dream of so what better way to showcase their talents than to release a cook book.

The Morning Advertiser ​takes a look at the pub chefs who have unveiled their recipes in books throughout the years.

Jesse Dunford Wood

Chef-patron of Top 50 Gastropubs stalwart Parlour​ in Kensal Green, Jesse Dunford Wood released his debut cook book earlier this month (September).

Modern British Food​highlights the fun style of British food available and Dunford Wood wanted to “banish the reputation of British food for being brown, dull and boring”.

Stephen Harris

The Sportsman in Seasalter, Kent,​ and this year’s number two on the Top 50 list, is widely acknowledged as not just one of the best pubs for food in the country, but one of the best restaurants in the UK.

Chef-patron Stephen Harris told The Morning Advertiser​’s sister title Restaurant​ that the recipes in the book – The Sportsman –​ due to be released later this month (September) are identical to those used at the pub.

He said: “Unlike some cookbooks by chefs associated with terroir cooking, most ingredients are easy to find.”

Tom Kerridge

Celebrity pub chef Tom Kerridge released a cookbook that chronicled the diet he use to drop 12 stone in 18 months, earlier this year.

The chef, owner of the double Michelin-starred Hand & Flowers and the Coach,​ both in Marlow, Buckinghamshire, released Tom Kerridge’s Dopamine Diet: My Low Carb, High Flavour, Stay Happy Way to Lose Weight​ was released in January 2017.

Andrew Pern

Michelin-starred Andrew Pern released Loose Birds & Game ​in 2010 and the award-winning cookbook includes 65 recipes within 13 chapters.

Pern, is the chef-patron of this year’s Top 50 number one the Star Inn at Harome,​ along with other venues the Star in the City, York; and the Star Inn the Harbour, Whitby, North Yorkshire.

James Mackenzie

Released in 2011 by Michelin-starred chef of the Pipe & Glass in South Dalton, East Yorkshire,​ James Mackenzie, On The Menu ​is an autobiographical cookbook with an inspirational collection of recipes.

The book is a comprehensive reference guide to a collection of more than 70 recipes with step-by-step instructions.

Tom Kitchin

Kitchin Suppers, From Nature to Plate: A Seasonal Journey ​and Tom Kitchin’s Meat and Game ​have all been released from Edinburgh’s Scran and Scallie​’s, Tom Kitchin.

Stephen Terry

Monmouthshire’s the Hardwick’​s Stephen Terry released his debut book, Inspired … by ​in 2015. It gives readers a loving journey through the seasons, in which he provides inspiration for home cooks and professional chefs alike.
