From the current Royal family, from all the way to the Tudors and beyond. It seems like they've all stayed several times, in several different pubs, throughout their journeys – if publicans are to be believed.

Pubs are the choice among celebrities and their friends to hang out, kick back, and get away from it all. Every pub has a celebrity regular, don't you know? Like a sports team's mascot.

Many a pub has featured in blockbuster films, soap operas, music videos and even been in the background of car insurance adverts. Any publicity is good publicity! (pun intended)

9. It was the start of a pop star’s career

Many a pop star started their international career at a local boozer, including Beyoncé, apparently. This is a video of her first gig, and pint of Guinness, in a pub... (apparently).
