The Dog-Friendly Pub Awards, organised by DogBuddy, are well under way, with the number of entries from pubs around the UK up 50% on last year.
Voting for this year’s awards opened on 26 August 2017 – which happened to be National Dog Day – until 29 October, and nominations are open for pubs all over the UK.
A spokesman for the event said: "The DogBuddy Dog Friendly Pub Awards are in full swing and the number of entries from pubs around the UK has increased significantly on last year, proving that the British pub is still the best place to take your four-legged friend."
Great marketing tool
Last year's winner, the Hand in Wand, Wimbledon, south-west London, said the competition had been a "great marketing tool".
"When people phone up to make a booking, they often ask if they can bring their dog so we always make sure to tell them we are actually the most dog-friendly pub in the country," she previously told The Morning Advertiser.
As it currently stands, the Bailey Head in Oswestry, Shropshire, has received the most votes, with the Fullerton Arms in Ballycastle, Northern Ireland, coming in at a close second, and the Fox & Hounds in Reading, Berkshire, following at third.
However, with another month to go until voting closes, there's still everything to play for.
