Pub lunch in the Cotswolds is Brits’ ‘happiest place’

Eating a pub lunch in the Cotswolds has hit the top spot of ‘happy places’, according to research from experts.

Researchers from the Serviced Apartment Company (SACO) found that 22.9% of the 1,500 adults surveyed said lunch in a quiet Cotswolds pub was their 'happy place'.

In second place, was eating ice cream on Brighton beach with 22% of people voting for this because even the great British weather can’t dampen spirits.

  9. Enjoying a pastry in St Ives
  10. Open top bus ride in London

One fifth (20.1%) of Brits chose hiking in the Lake District as their favourite ideal and 18.2% said admiring the white sandy beaches of the Hebrides.

In fifth place was walking in the Peak District with 17.7% and nothing says a holiday by the sea like enjoying a portion of fish and chips with 17% of Brits wanting to be eating theirs in Padstow.

A traditional cream tea in the Isles of Scilly hit the spot with 16.5% of respondents naming it as their happy place.

Staycation adventure

Some 16% of Brits chose visiting the Roman baths in the city of Bath and then in ninth place, a proper Cornish pasty in St Ives was 15.5% of those surveyed happy places.

In 10th position was taking an open-top bus ride in the capital with 15% of Brits stating this as their choice during a staycation.
