List of pubs to be sold as part of Heineken's Punch deal revealed

The full list of 30 pubs Heineken has offered to sell across the UK to “reduce competition” as part of its Punch deal has been revealed.

On 27 June Heineken confirmed it would sell a number of pubs across Britain after the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) said its proposed acquisition of 1,900 Punch pubs "had the potential to reduce competition" in 33 areas across the UK.

The CMA said this “could lead to price increases or a deterioration in the quality of the serve on offer”.

The list of 30 pubs to be sold has been split equally between Star Pubs & Bars and Punch pubs, revealed the CMA.

Pubs being sold include five in the north-east, eight in Scotland and one in Guildford, Surrey.

Immediate communication

A spokesman for Heineken said it will “immediately" start to communicate with existing licensees affected by this decision.

“We welcome confirmation from the CMA that only a small number of pubs are required to be sold,” the company said.

“It's a sensible outcome and good news for pub-goers across the UK who will see the benefit of well-invested pubs in their communities."
