Pug Pubs puts expansion plans on hold

Pug Pubs, the three-strong pub chain, has put plans for rapid expansion on the backburner to focus on its current operation.

In September 2015, the group said it was exploring funding options to ramp up expansion from 2016. The group had been planning to roll out to 10 sites over the next three years.

But director Matthew Crowther told MCA: “We are happy sitting at three.”

It has expanded its Pug & Greyhound site in the Leicestershire village of Great Glen adding seven letting rooms in August 2016. The investment cost per room was

around £5,000.

Its other two sites are the Fat Pug and the Royal Pug, both in Leamington Spa. It also has the Travelling Pug, which is a mobile bar that is available for private

functions.
