The brewery’s 3.8% ABV ale, Prophecy, was initially launched as a limited-edition product in Bath Ales pubs but is now a permanent fixture on its roster and is readily available across the trade.
A ‘New World pale ale’ brewed with Columbus and Chinook hops, Prophecy is described as having a ‘fruity and pine-like aroma’ with a hoppy bitter finish.
'A good session beer'
Senior brewer Darren James said the beer was “a dry, yet complex pale ale that will really challenge the taste buds”.
“The new permanent beer has a low ABV, which sets it in good stead as a session beer,” he continued.
“Prophecy presents well on the bar, both in terms of colour and aroma, and has a hoppy, bitter finish that we’re confident will fulfil drinkers’ expectations.”
Next month, the brewery will also unveil new enhanced pump-clip livery for all of its cask ales.
Ongoing expansion
Earlier this year, St Austell gave the green light to a new multimillion-pound investment programme to enable Bath Ales to build a new state-of-the-art brewery.
The new site is under construction and, when finished, will enable the brewery to more than double its current production to 50,000 brewers’ barrels or 14.5m pints.
The new facilities at the site will include canning and bottling lines, as well as the ability to experiment with new beer styles.
Bath Ales was founded in 1995 and has been owned by the St Austell family brewery since July 2016.
