Greene King expands foodservice arm for tenants

Greene King Pub Partners has expanded its range of food services to tenanted and leased pubs in its estate.

The brewer and operator of 3,100 outlets launched Pub Partners Food and Supplies service in spring (April) last year, in partnership with logistics company Kuehne + Nagel (K&N).

This gives licensees a ready-to-go food offer and is designed for operators whose businesses could benefit from the addition of food.

Operators using the service will receive a menu, free delivery of the necessary products, crockery, allergen information and marketing support.

Different packages available

Greene King tenants could already choose a value or mainstream package, both have a range of price points and now, a premium selection of dishes has been added in.

The design and content of the menus is refreshed every six months and licensees will also save money on waste disposal thanks to K&N which will remove food waste and other recyclables at no cost to the operator.

Greene King pub partners managing director Clive Chesser said the response from the food supply service had been “phenomenal” with numbers taking it up continuously increasing.

He added: “Using the skills from our retail development kitchen, we have specifically designed the products and menu to be quick and easy to deliver.

“Many of our licensees using the scheme have already seen a significant margin increase."

More choice reflecting consumer demand

Chesser said: “We have made the service as flexible as possible so that licensees can opt for select dishes to create their own, bespoke menu if they wish or just go with our wholesale supply option.

“For pubs serving food, we look to take away as much of the hard work as possible.”

Chesser added that this new option gives operators even more choice and reflects increasing customer demand for a more premium experience.

Pete Mann, licensee of the Beehive in St Albans, Hertfordshire, took part in the scheme when it was launched last year.

He told The Morning Advertiser: “When you are running a busy pub kitchen, it can be difficult to maintain consistency but, by using this service, I know that every dish comes with all the right tools, including a picture so my team can get it right.”
