Woodall’s launches salami snacks

Charcuterie company Woodall’s has launched three new snacking salami products to help operators tempt customers with sharing platters and canapés.

A trio of salami sticks and bite formats will be available from 1 May, including classic, spicy and gin flavours.

The snacks are handmade using traditional methods by Colin Woodall and his team, in small batches at Woodall’s factory in Manchester.

Following the trends

Flavour profiles:

Classic

Based on traditional Cumberland recipes, the pork is lightly seasoned and has an extra hint of pepper.

Spicy

With additional chilli powder and smoked paprika, this flavour has been inspired by flavours in the company’s core charcuterie range.

Gin

Made with juniper berries, a selection of botanicals and a splash of gin to create a flavoursome bite.

Made with British outdoor-bred pork, the products are high in protein and are gluten and lactose-free, with no added nitrates.

Woodall’s sales manager James Crease explained the snacks tick all of the boxes for current trends with consumers.

He said: “An increase in snacking, and protein snacking in particular, and a move away from sugar and carbs."

British heritage and reputation

He added: “When you add to this a good-looking sophisticated format, and our British heritage and reputation for great-tasting products, we are hoping to create quite a stir with this new range.

“We have already been sampling the products at a handful of select trade events and the feedback has been incredibly positive.

“Our gin salami bites in particular are really causing a stir especially because there are so many new, artisan gins on the market now.”
