Nicola Adams to open BT Sport's boxing coverage

Two-time olympics gold medallist, Nicola Adams OBE, will launch her professional boxing career on BT Sport's opening night of boxing coverage on 8 April.

BT Sport has confirmed its first four nights of boxing coverage, which will be available for free for licensees with BT Sport coverage.

The opening night of coverage on 8 April will not only feature Adams's opening bout as a professional fighter, but also Terry Flanagan's defence of his WBO world lightweight championship title against Russia's Petr Petrov.

BT Sport's second fight night will see the newly crowned British middleweight champion Tommy Langford defend his title for the first time against Birmingham rival Craig Cunningham, who recently beat 2012 Olympic medallist Anthony Ogogo. The bill on the Leicester event on 22 April also sees Tyrone Nurse take on Joe Hughes while Indian superstar Vijender Singh face Leicester’s own English super middleweight champion Jahmaine Smyle.

On 6 May, BT Sport will be at the Olympic Park in east London for Bradley Skeete’s mandatory British welterweight title defence against Shayne Singleton. On the undercard, super featherweight Mitchell Smith has the chance to avenge his shock recent loss to George Jupp.

Finally, Nicola Adams will be returning to BT for her second bout on 13 May. The event will also feature WBC international featherweight champion Josh Warrington.

BT Sport recently secured the rights to BoxNation – a channel previously only available for an additional subscription charge on Sky Sports – and these are the first confirmed events available for free for licensees with BT Sport. The coverage will still be available to Sky Sports pubs that have subscribed to BoxNation, but BT Sport has promised 20 Saturday night events free for its pub customers.
