Fabric says ‘there is no safe way to take drugs’ following drug death inquest

Iconic London nightclub Fabric has warned partygoers there is no safe way to take drugs ahead of its reopening, this weekend (Friday 6 January).

The famed venue closed its doors and had its licence revoked in August following the deaths of two 18-year-old men from drug overdoses.

However, a deal between Islington Borough Council and the Farringdon’s club’s owners Fabric Life was struck in order for it to reopen.

Fabric released a statement following the inquest of one of the men who died a drug-related death.

Protecting customers’ safety

It said: “All of us at Fabric’s thoughts are with the family of Jack Crossley at this extremely hard time.

“As we look to our reopening this weekend, we are implementing a number of measures to protect the safety of our customers and to reinforce our zero tolerance policy to drugs.

“We ask all of our customers to respect these measures and not to attempt to bring any illegal drugs into the venue.”

No safe way to take drugs

It added: “All of our team have undergone drugs safety and awareness training in collaboration with The Loop and we will have a newly appointed welfare officer who will be at the club at all times we are open.

“Their sole job is to attend to our customer’s wellbeing, so if anyone needs it, they are given medical assistance by our onsite team of medics at the earliest juncture.

“Remember, there is no safe way to take drugs.

“If you feel unwell at any point, then let any of our staff know. Look after yourselves and each other.”
