Darts and football lead the way for new year sport

A huge set of football matches and the conclusion of the World Darts Championship are here for pub customers to see in the new year.

Football: Rangers v Celtic (31 December, 12.15pm) - Sky Sports 1

This year's Hogmanay is likely to be memorable for one half of Glasgow. The Old Firm derby is a game that is always high in passion and is on this occasion a great chance to get customers into the pub early on New Year's Eve.

Football: Liverpool v Manchester City (31 December, 5.30pm) - BT Sport 1

One of the stand-out Premier League games of the Christmas period is the last match of 2016. The conclusion of the match will be edging into the start of the evening celebrations to see in the new year. That, however, means that this game can be an opportunity to get customers into a new year event immediately after the match.

Darts: World Darts Championship (1 January, 7pm for semi-finals, and 2 January, 8pm for final) - Sky Sports Darts

The party in Alexandra Palace draws to a close in the new year. Licensees can bring the raucous atmosphere of the darts into their pub in the aftermath of the new year celebrations and thus bring in a boost in trade with targeted advertising to local darts fans on social media.

Football: West Ham v Manchester United (2 January, 5.15pm) - Sky Sports 1

One of the first matches of 2017 sees Manchester United's first visit to the former Olympic Stadium in east London. Both of these sides have been inconsistent this season but they are both phenomenally well supported and this game is likely to prove popular in the pub.
