The quiz, which is set to take place on 5 March 2017, is to be played by thousands of participants in pubs all over the country to raise funds for charity.
All registered pubs will be sent a quiz pack, while licensees who wish to raise money for Prostate Cancer UK will receive posters, pin badges and collection tins.
‘Celebrating success’
PubAid co-founder Des O’Flanagan said: “We’re delighted to be partnering with Prostate Cancer UK, which has recognised that great British pubs are places to get its message heard and been an enthusiastic supporter of the role the pub plays in the fabric of our communities.”
He added: “The quiz is a great way of recognising the fabulous work that UK pubs do for charity in raising more than £100m a year.”
Prostate Cancer UK director of fundraising James Beeby said: “We are thrilled to partner with PubAid who have been celebrating the success of pubs raising millions of pounds for great causes since 2009.
“We have a growing number of ‘pop up’ pubs known as the Men United Arms, so it made sense to link up with industry experts to reach more publicans and consumers with a message about prostate cancer, and to raise money to fight the disease — which affects one in eight men in the UK.”
A worthy cause
Last year more than 30,000 participants took part in the event and raised in excess of £130,000 for more than 600 charities.
Operators can choose to donate to other charities, but should be contacted directly for support.
This month Prostate Cancer UK also launched Wise Men beer with London-based pub company Fuller’s to raise funds.
The beer, a 4% ABV seasonal golden ale, was released at the Red Lion in Whitehall in central London.
PubAid is a group that highlights the work UK pubs do for charities and was formed in 2009 by Des O’Flanagan, Bed & Bars chief executive officer Keith Knowles, and chairman Tim Sykes.
