The Bull Inn, Barton Mills, has paid for 5,000 leaflets and 500 posters in the bid to help find Corrie McKeague and have since managed to secure a further 21,000 flyers to distribute locally and nationwide.
Licensee of the Bull Inn Cheryl Hickman said: “Corrie’s phone was apparently last pinged in Barton Mills and given that we are a very viable and busy business, located by Fiveways [roundabout] at Barton Mills, we felt we wanted to give Corrie as much exposure as possible, as quickly as possible."
Community help
She added: “Members of the pub were offering to help with a search but the police did not require public searches so I thought all these volunteers could be used to distribute flyers and get Corrie’s picture far and wide.
“I did try and get some printers to print for free initially but wasn’t having any luck so in the end I bought the first batch and once these were out, word started spreading and other local printers have now been printing for free.
“We are now posting flyers all over the country – Isle of Wight, Scotland, Southampton, Manchester, Oxford – basically, everywhere.
“We are desperate for Corrie to come home and be reunited with his family.”
Corrie is described as white, 5ft 10in tall, of medium build with short, light brown hair and was wearing a light pink shirt and white jeans at the time he was last seen.
Social media plea
The pub has posted the plea on its Facebook page asking for help and notifying pubgoers that they can collect the posters and flyers from the site.
The police are urging anyone who spoke to Corrie on the evening of Friday 23 September or the morning of Saturday 24 September, or anyone with information that may help find him, to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call the incident room on 01473 782019 and the poster is available to download on the Suffolk police website here.
From humans to animals, last month (September), a Lincolnshire pub lost its pet tortoise from the beer garden and appealed for help in the community to help find him.
