Scotland names its ‘best beers’

BrewDog, Caledonian Brewery and the Tempest Brewing Company have been named, among many other brewers, as producing some of Scotland’s top beers.

Large and small brewers gathered in Edinburgh last night at the Scottish Beer Awards to find out which beers are the best Scotland has to offer.

Around 30 prizes were awarded on the night, with the overall award for Scottish Brewery of the Year going to the Tempest Brewing Co, after it took home four gold medals for its Old Parochial, Brave New World, Red Eye Flight and Mexicake beers.

The Borders-based brewery also won the Growth Business of the Year Award for growing its sales by over 200%.

Chair of the judging panel Hillary Jones, said: “The Scottish Beer Awards recognises the fantastic range of beers now brewed in Scotland.

“With such a large amount of high-quality premium product available, the brewing industry in Scotland can continue its growth in the UK and internationally with great confidence.

“Winning a Scottish Beer Award is a tremendous badge of honour and we wish our winners and finalists the best of success.”
