Hungry Horse urges customers 'having a mare' to enter competition

Greene King’s Hungry Horse brand has launched a competition to help families get through their first week of work and school.

The ‘Having a Mare’ competition is asking customers to enter their ‘first week fails’ in for a chance to win a £500 cash prize for the worthiest winner. There are also nine runners-up prizes of £50 vouchers, courtesy of fruit squash drinks producer Robinsons.

Brand controller for Hungry Horse, Abigail Brockwell said: “We are helping families make it through the first few weeks back at school and work by asking them to share their first week ‘mares’ with the chance to win a host of prizes to fix their problems.

“The competition is a great opportunity to engage with guests digitally and also raise awareness of the key back-to-school trading period, whether that be parents celebrating first week successes with their families or teachers coming in to enjoy a drink and celebrate making it through the first week.”

Extra boost

The Slough Observer spoke with general manager of the George Hungry Horse in Slough, Brian Howells, who said: “Going back to work or school after the summer holidays can be a tough time for many so we wanted to give local families an extra boost to help lift their spirits.

“Whether you turned up late for an important meeting, spilt coffee on your new coat, or the kids’ new uniforms have shrunk in the wash, we want to try and fix your 'first week mares' and what better way than with a £500 cash prize?

“We look forward to fixing some of our guests’ problems and making their return to school and work as easy and stress-free as possible.”

The closing date for the competition is midnight on 18 September.
