Alcohol delivery service Booze Up surveyed 1,000 people after discovering the average Brit spends up to two years of their life nursing a hangover.
The research found eating a fry-up is the favoured option the day after a drinking session, beating perhaps more sensible options and winners in previous research, such as sleeping and drinking water.
The top 10 ways Brits choose to cure a hangover:
- Eating a fry-up
- Taking painkillers
- Drinking water
- Sleeping
- Drinking fizzy/sugary drinks
- Taking a long shower
- Hair of the dog
- Coffee
- Exercise
- Watching Netflix in bed
Some 21% said eating a fry-up was the best cure, while 19% swore by taking painkillers, 15% preferred drinking water, 13% said sleeping was the best method and 10% reach for a fizzy or sugary drink.
Other cures identified included taking a long shower, drinking coffee, exercising and watching Netflix in bed.
Only 6% of the nation claimed that the only way to cure a hangover was to drink more alcohol.
Darren Sawyer, co-founder of Booze Up, said: “Although there is no proven cure, hopefully this list will help more people beat the searing headaches and waves of nausea that appear after a heavy night of drinking.”
Ashleigh Fletcher, also a co-founder, added: “With so many hangover cures out there, we wanted to find out which ones were the nation's favourite.”
