Michelin-starred pub chef to cook breakfast in furniture showroom
Josh Eggleton, co-owner and chef-patron of the Michelin-starred Pony & Trap in Chew Magna, Somerset, which came fifth in this year’s Top 50 Gastropubs, will cook a three-course breakfast for up to 40 diners at Kustom Floors and Furniture in Bedminster, Bristol.
The event, priced at £25 per head, is part of a series of pop-up food events being held across the district.
Vibe
Eggleton told the Bristol Post: “I really like the vibe in Bedminster and wanted to support a couple of local businesses and do something a bit different as part of their pop up events.
“I hope people will make an effort to wear their very best or worst pyjamas and head out for a morning filled with local produce and great cuisine in the restaurants, cafes and even furniture shops.”
Inspired
Diners will have the meal, which Eggleton said would be inspired by his own breakfasts and include savoury and sweet dishes, served to them while sitting in one of the showroom’s beds.
The Pony & Trap recently celebrated its 10th anniversary by putting on a special tasting menu inspired by a decade of food from the pub’s kitchen.
Last year, Eggleton opened stand-alone fish and chip restaurant the Salt & Malt at nearby Chew Lake, serving a range of classic fish dishes as well as seasonal options. He said at the time he was curious to see if the concept could be replicated.
