World-famous Leicester pub thrives following Premier League triumph

The Local Hero Pub near to Leicester City's home ground - and the focus of worldwide media attention over the weekend - has been celebrating the team's Premier League win during the Bank Holiday.

General manager of the Greene King Flaming Grill pub, David Radburn, described the atmosphere over both Saturday and Monday as "fantastic" and said: "The supporters were well behaved - even when Chelsea went 2-0 down, it was still nice."

He explained that the attention they have received has gone "absolutely mad" with many Dutch, Italian and Japanese inquiries.

The 58-year-old licensee added: "We turned away about 200 people an hour before kick off on both days!

"People are still down at the stadium buying banners and scarves."

The celebrations are set to continue as tonight 5 Live are recording from the pub so David is expecting another busy night.

Images and broadcasting from the pub have been shown around the world following Leicester City's historic victory in the English Premier League.

"This will build up until Saturday when the party begins from 10am until around midnight."

Self-confessed football fanatic: “I am so, so pleased for all the Leicester fans because it is history.

“We have lived the dream.”

Having been involved in the Local Hero for the last 20 years, David confessed that he will stay there until he retires: "I love the pub and I love the people."
