Pimm’s adds three new flavours to Cider Cup range

Diageo-owned Pimm's has launched three new flavours in its Pimm's Cider Cup range in a bid to help licensees tap into the £348m fruit cider segment.

The new flavours include Summer Fruits, Mango & Passion Fruit and Plum & Red Apple in addition to the existing Strawberry & Cucumber flavour that launched last June.

Claire O'Neill, innovation commercialisation manager at Diageo said: "The extended Pimm's Cider Cup range is timed to perfection for licensees, who can now offer the perfect patriotic tipple to accompany the British summertime.

"Our insight shows us that frequent cider drinkers are more likely to experiment by trying something new."

Flavour range

The Pimm's Cider Cup range has a less sweet and more of a fermented taste when compared with other fruit ciders, she added.

Sales of fruit cider doubled last year according to figures from Nielsen. The packaged category is worth almost £2.4bn to the on-trade and is set to grow, CGA Strategy's Brand Index showed.

Meanwhile, the Publican's Morning Advertiser is set to host the first Future Trends: Beer and Cider event in London on 22 June where the latest and future cider trends are set to be discussed.

The rise of craft cider, cider cocktails and new product development will all form part of the day's conversation.
