Young’s to open stand-alone Burger Shack

London-based pub company Young’s is set to open the first stand-alone site for its Burger Shack concept.

The pub group, which recently won the title for Best Food Offer (51+ sites) at the 25th anniversary Publican Awards, will open Burger Shack on the site of the former Five Stables in Wimbledon, south-west London, later this month.

Enlarged menu

The site will feature an enlarged menu that complements the business's core burger offer, according to the Publican's Morning Advertiser's sister publication MCA.

Young's currently operates Burger Shacks at five pubs; the Windmill, Clapham; the Bull, Streatham; the Leather Bottle, Earlsfield; the Wood House, Sydenham Hill; and the Ship, Wandsworth.

Incoming chief executive Patrick Dardis previously told MCA: "It's a brand I'm developing without doubt. I have confidence in the performance and branding."

The company plans to have at least 20 permanent sites for the concept by 2018, he said.

Succeed

The company recently announced that Dardis, previously retail director, will succeed Stephen Goodyear as chief executive at the end of its AGM in July.

He said: "It is an honour to have been asked to lead the business and, with the strong legacy created by Steve's stewardship over the past 13 years, I am very excited by what Young's can achieve in the future."
