More than 20 jobs have been created following the opening of the Cosy Dove pub and dining rooms in Spital Tongues, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, which was once the Spital House pub.
Two rooms have been knocked into one to create a flexible dining room, which has a new bar and open kitchen.
Local chef Steven Foister, who has worked in a number of the north-east's award-winning restaurants, has been taken on to develop the pub's new menu, which will feature local produce.
Local supplies
Local food and drink suppliers to the pub will include the Northumberland Cheese Company, the Fat Butcher, the Geordie Banger Company and Northumberland Tea.
Of the new menu, Foister said: "The menu offers classic British favourites cooked well, with top-quality ingredients sourced locally wherever possible.
"I'm proud of the food produced in the north-east and want to showcase that at the Cosy Dove.
"Newcastle is ideally situated with the sea and the open country on our doorsteps so it makes perfect sense to use some of the fantastic food produced in the region."
Contemporary design
The Cosy Dove boasts open fires, exposed stone walls, leather sofas, wooden floors and a mix of quirky and contemporary design.
Outside, the pub has been revamped and there's new seating, terraces and beer garden landscaping for outdoor eating and drinking.
New licensee Jo Loring said: "There's been a gap in the market [in Newcastle] for a destination food pub like the Cosy Dove because there is nothing similar within a mile radius.
"Our efforts are focused on giving customers a great experience, whether they pop in for a coffee and a snack, a drink or a meal."
