St Austell Brewery is creating a range of limited edition beers inspired by the travels of its head brewer Roger Ryman.

The first to be launched is Eureka, a 5.9% American Pale Ale, which Ryman created in collaboration with head brewer Rob Lovatt of Derbyshire-based Thornbridge Brewery.

“Thanks to the Small Batch Brewery we now have the facilities to be really inventive. Eureka is the first of the range and combines Cornish spring water, Maris Otter pale and Rye Crystal barley malt along with Eureka hops and Thornbridge Brewery’s own yeast,” Ryman said.

St Austell will launch a new bottle of beer in the world beer club each month with Eureka available now.

Due to the increasing demand for St Austell’s beers, pubs can now sign up to be part of the brewery’s Small Batch Beer Club, where they will receive a regular supply of new small batch beers.

Head brewer Richard Frost said: “Hog Island is a really exciting addition to the No.18 Yard Brewhouse collection. It is a refreshing, zesty beer which retains the malty character of the typical East Coast pale ale.”

Conceived in Shepherd Neame’s pilot brewery, beers in the No.18 Yard Brewhouse collection have already featured a range of unusual ingredients, such as rare hops, chocolate, chilli and mulling spices.

Hog Island East Coast Pale Ale will be available on draught nationwide from March 1 for one month.
