30,000 pub goers take part in world's biggest pub quiz record attempt

An estimated 30,000 pub goers went to their local pub on Sunday night in a bid to break the world record for the largest multi-venue pub quiz.

Over 1,400 pubs signed up for the record breaking attempt, which is estimated to have made over £100,000 for a range of different causes.

Keith Knowles, co-founder of PubAid and Beds and Bars CEO, said although he was still waiting for confirmation on whether the record was broken, he was ‘hoping we had more than enough to do it.’

“We’re delighted that so many pubs registered to join in with the quiz, typifying the spirit that sees UK pubs raising over £100m for charity ever year,” he added.

MPs including Andrew Griffiths acted as quiz master for the night, which was organised by PubAid and JustGiving.
