Enterprise Inns invests £2m into managed tenancy model

Enterprise Inns is investing £2m into its managed tenancy model Beacon and restructuring to make it a dedicated national operating division within its leased and tenanted business.

The move sees Mark Brooke, who has been with the company for the past four years, appointed divisional director of Beacon, which for the first time has a dedicated support team of ten regional managers.

Over the next 12 months, Enterprise has earmarked over £2m for investment in the 172-strong Beacon estate, which will see it grow by 30 pubs during the period. The first batch of 14 pubs have recently been transferred to a Beacon partnership agreement.

Brooke said: “By having a stand-alone, dedicated national division we are able to enhance Beacon and introduce a new way of working with more frequent business visits and a greater level of support.

“Regional managers are now having structured monthly meetings with publicans, rather than once a quarter, and we have introduced a “Your Pub” Retail Agenda so that each business meeting focuses on a specific topic such as marketing, merchandising, product quality, cash control.

“The approach is designed to support our publicans and as part of each meeting they receive supporting material which they can add to their “Your Pub” Retail Agenda’ folder.”

Brooke said sales across the Beacon estate were up over 5% on the same period last year.

He added: “Because we are able to define and provide the product range, pricing and marketing, our publicans can really focus on making sure that the team deliver excellent customer service.”

Investment in the Beacon estate over the coming year will cover schemes such as external & internal decoration, beer gardens, signage and living quarters.
