Pub offers 'reverse Santa' to bring gifts for local cancer charity

Pub joins forces with primary school to offer 'reverse Santa', where children bring gifts to venue to pass onto local cancer charity.

Ilkley venue The Yard and Burley Oaks Primary School joined forces to host a ‘reverse Santa’ day yesterday (Tuesday 15 December) for Little Heroes children's cancer charity.

The concept requested children from the school bring along a small gift to give to Santa to pass on via the pub, to local children’s cancer wards.

For their generosity, the children will receive a small token of thanks from Santa, and will also enjoy entertainment provided by the pub at their school Christmas parties.

The pub will also undertake other initiatives this month and January to raise money for the charity, including an annual ‘Bad Christmas Jumper party’ and donating 20p from every pint sold of their Greene King, ‘Rocking Rudolph’, Christmas beer.

Anni Wilkinson from Little Heroes charity said: “It is amazing what The Yard are doing and we are delighted to be working with them to hopefully ease some ill children’s plight this Christmas”

Ali Allawa from The Yard said: “It’s great that we can get involved in such a good cause this Christmas and hope to be able to pass on loads of presents to the children.

"We are looking to raise about £10,000 in cash and present value, with the campaign concluding with a huge charity event in January.”
