‘Sausage pride is running high’ as Britain’s best sausages are revealed

Britain’s best sausages have been revealed and are available on pub and restaurant menus, following the climax of British Sausage Week 2015.

The winners of the competition this year were:

  • Handmade breakfast sausage by Frank Parker Butchers in Nuneaton
  • Cumberland sausage by the Broad Oak Farm Sausage Company in Essex
  • Sicilian fennel traditional style sausage by Fairfax Meadow in London

Renowned French chef and Sausage Week ambassador Michel Roux Jr revealed the winners at a ceremony earlier this week.

‘Sausage pride running high’

Butchery development manager for Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board Pork, and head judge, Keith Fisher said: “With sausage pride running high, the competition to mark the 18th annual British Sausage Week was particularly fierce.

“Sausages remain a mainstay on pub menus – there are some 84 million servings annually – with quality, consistency and originality all key ingredients. Record levels of entry and innovation this year prove the sausage market is in no danger of standing still.

“It remains imaginative and forward-thinking, delivering a fantastic array of quality pork sausages to satisfy the country’s entire legion of sausage fans.”
