Bath Ales launches craft beer & pizza concept in Oxford

Brewer and operator Bath Ales is refurbishing its Grapes pub in Oxford into a craft beer and pizza venue called Beerd.

The pub reopens today (September 18), and is the first Beerd launched outside of its hometown in Bristol.

The Oxford location was closed for three weeks while it was given a makeover, which included a fully refurbished kitchen, reconfigured seating, and new feature lighting.

Mirroring the other Beerd venue in Bristol, the interior is an industrial-style design with original features of the building.

Central to the menu is an extensive beer list, offering local and international brews, as well as the Beerd range, available in one-third, half, two-third and pint measures.

The food offer has seen traditional pub dishes replaced with artisan pizzas and snacks to complement the beer offering.

Duncan Zvonek-Little, operations director at Bath Ales, said: “It made sense for us to change Grapes into a Beerd venue.

"It is in a great city-centre location and a prime spot for people visiting the popular theatre. As we’ve discovered with Beerd in Bristol, the simplicity of the concept, well-executed, along with the contemporary look and feel of the place, gives us the confidence locals and visitors will really enjoy this new bar.

“Beerd has a unique proposition which has great appeal. Ideal for beer fans and those new to exploring the category, it provides the perfect platform for those looking to experiment and try something a bit different. The Italian-style pizzas are delicious too.”

“We’ve been thrilled with the reception and support Beerd in Bristol has received. Oxford provides another great location for this style of outlet to flourish.”
