Wetherspoon's responds after poster telling Muslims to 'get the f*** out' appears on pub notice board

Wetherspoon’s has responded after a poster telling Muslims to “get the f*** out of our countries’ appeared on a noticeboard at the Moon in Square in Feltham

The poster, which was in the style of a Lord Kitchener recruitment ad, asked Muslims if they were offended by British culture and told them to ‘go back to the monstrous s******* you came from.’

In a statement, the pub chain said: “A poster was displayed on the notice board at the Moon on the Square, by a customer at the pub, without the knowledge of the pub staff. As soon as it came to light, staff immediately removed the discriminatory material.

“The customer notice board, which is regularly checked and monitored by staff, has now been completely cleared of all material, whatever the content.

“The Moon on the Square is a community pub, proud of its diverse customer base and has always been fully committed to operating in a non-discriminatory way.”

A  regular dining at the pub with his friend spotted the poster and was so offended the pair left the pub without finishing their meal.

Earlier this year, JDW chairman Tim Martin hit against ‘inaccurate’ newspaper coverage after the company had to apologise to a group of travellers who were denied entry to a pub.

The judge found in favour of nine of the claimants and awarded eight of them damages and costs. A further nine claims were rejected and costs awarded to Wetherspoons.
