Brooklyn launches American Ale
Brooklyn Brewery has announced the launch of its American Ale in the UK.
A 4.5% Pale Ale produced using Willamette, Cascade and Amarillo hops, the ale has a herbal and distinct piney aroma.
To celebrate the new beer, American Ale will launch at the popular Grillstock Festival London, the meat and music festival taking place in Walthamstow on the 5th and 6th September where Brooklyn Brewery is the beer partner of the festival.
Brooklyn Brewery American Ale will be available throughout the UK on draught and in 355ml bottles from September, with cans following in 2016.
Exmoor produces five hop brew
Exmoor Ales has released a new beer, named XPA.
A 4.8% golden hoppy brew that uses Willamette and Cascade American hops alongside the more traditional English varieties Fuggles and Goldings.
The beer is described as “refreshing citrusy and orange-jelly notes on the nose, while the palate is a bittersweet, juicy citrus and hints of berry before a dry, grainy, bitter finish.”
Launching at the Great British Beer Festival in Olympia, London, which runs from August 11-15 XPA will also be available from Exmoor.
Hardknott take nuclear option
Hardknott brewery has released a new craft beer called Nuclear Sunset, which is brewed by Dave Bailey, who previously worked in the nuclear industry.
A 4.7% international yeast beer, Nuclear Sunset is brewed using orange peel, coriander, orange juice and nutmeg using an American ale yeast and is based on a Japanese yeast beer.
Bailey said “We've not had a nuclear weapon detonated in anger for 70 years. Will that last forever? What has this to do with beer, you might ask. The actions we make today, as developed nations, will affect the futures for many billions of lives for many years to come.
“I want to think about that, and I think other people should to, over that next beer they drink, whatever beer it is, whoever it is drunk with and wherever it may be. Beer can be an emotive drink, and very often, over a beer, we can end up discussing emotive issues. We know we shouldn't but we still keep doing it.”
Nuclear Sunset is available now in cases of 12 or 24 from Hardknott.
Thornbridge gets romantic
Thornbridge brewery has launched a new strawberry blonde ale called “I Love You Will U Marry Me”.
The 4.5%ABV beer was the best-seller at Thornbridge’s Peakender Festival in July and the brewery reported high demand for the bottled version.
The name originates from a marriage proposal when the words ‘I Love You Will U Marry Me’ were painted onto a street bridge at Park Hill, Sheffield.
The beer has been brewed to support S1 Artspace’s ambitions to create a major new cultural venue at Park Hill for Sheffield, and Thornbridge is raising money from the sale of the beer towards this development.
