Sky Sports has added three of the biggest derbies in English football to its live football schedule this autumn.

In October Sky Sports will show the Merseyside, Tyne-Wear and Manchester derbies exclusively live, as well as another huge rivalry from Premier League history as Arsenal take on Manchester United.

Some 22 additional fixtures have been added in October and November, bringing the total to 46 Premier League matches that will be shown exclusively live on Sky Sports in the opening four months of the season.

Every club will be shown at least twice and last season’s top four sides six or more times each before the end of November.

The live matches are the first of 116 Barclays Premier League fixtures to be shown exclusively live on Sky Sports this coming season.

Rivalries

Sky Business managing director David Rey said: “As Sky Sports adds more live matches to the schedule it only builds the excitement ahead of a new football season. For pubs looking to attract football fans through their door, it doesn’t come any bigger than the intensity of domestic rivalries to drive footfall, and with a number of derby matches in October and November there is a lot to look forward to exclusively on Sky Sports.

“In the first four months of the season, pubs will be able to show every team live at least twice, appealing to a wide range of fans, and the top four of Chelsea, Man City, Arsenal and Man Utd will be shown at least six times each.”

Sky Sports' coverage kicks off with champions Chelsea taking on Swansea on 8 August at 5.30pm.
