The Competition and Markets Authority is currently conducting a consultation on the deal but has said there are concerns over 16 areas across the combined portfolio.

Greene King has agreed to sell the pubs but last week said CMA approval was no longer a condition for completing the deal. It has said trading in Spirit shares will be suspended from Tuesday (23 June).
The CMA told M&C it would continue to investigate the deal, with a final verdict expected on 21 July.
The 16 pubs to be sold are:
- The Brewery Tap in Abingdon (GK);
- the Fox Inn in Boars Hill, Oxford (Spirit);
- the Fish (GK), Abingdon;
- the Ladygrove (GK), Didcot;
- the Fox (GK), Abingdon;
- the Packhorse (GK), Abingdon;
- the Plough Inn (Spirit), Bursledon, Southampton;
- the Crusader (GK), Nottingham;
- the Coach & Horses (Spirit), Castle Bromwich;
- the Fairham Hotel (Spirit), Clifton, Nottingham;
- the Gedling Inn (Spirit), Gedling, Nottingham;
- Sunnyside (GK), Northampton;
- the Old Colonial (Spirit), Nottingham;
- the Raven (Spirit), Birmingham;
- the Hare (GK), Wantage, Oxfordshire and;
- the Plough (GK), Wantage, Oxfordshire
All are freehold, except the Ladygrove and the Fairham Hotel, which are long leaseholds.
