Celebrity chefs to launch recipe books

Top chefs Daniel Clifford and Colin McGurran are to release recipe books later this year.

The books will be published by Meze Publishing. Paul Cocker, the company's director, said: “I’m delighted to be working with Colin McGurran and Daniel Clifford on their individual cook books. As a huge food fan I’m a little in awe of the two chefs, having followed their careers through the likes of Great British Menu and other shows.

“Their food is stunning and visually spectacular; our job will be to recreate that throughout the books and showcase the amazing work they do everyday.”

 Upcoming opening

BBC Great British Menu winner Clifford, owner of double Michelin-starred restaurant Midsummer House, Cambridge, is set to open Essex gastropub the Flitch of Bacon, Little Dunmow later this year.

He acquired the pub’s freehold for £300k earlier this year and has given the site an extensive £500k refurbishment.

Clifford’s pub menu is set to include traditional pub dishes and “forgotten classics” such as Black Forest gateau, steak and kidney pudding and homemade sausages using produce from the chef’s own Ongmar Farm.

The chef also recently featured on Channel 4’s Burger Bar to Gourmet Star, mentoring a burger van owner in the ways of Michelin star cooking.

Great British Menu 2014

McGurran, who appeared on Great British Menu 2014 and is owner of restaurant Winteringham Fields in Lincolnshire, opened pub the Hope and Anchor in South Ferriby, also in Lincolnshire, in March, following a £500k refurbishment.

The menu features “British classics” such as home reared and braised pork belly, potato and chorizo pave and spiced red cabbage, Loch Duart salmon fillet with scampi, seaweed spinach and caper and lime butter and black truffle and wild mushroom mac ‘n’ cheese.
