New products: Nordic delicacies and whipping cream

Ocean Crown has introduced a premium marinated and flavoured herring range.

The products, which are ambient and ready to serve, can be offered with pickles and rye bread, or used as an ingredient in starters or main dish.

The product is available in varieties flavoured with spices, dill or curry in fillets or bites.

It is available in pack sizes of four to 25 portions.

Lisa West, chief executive of Ocean Crown importer Scandia Foods UK, said: “Scandinavian food is very much in vogue at the moment as Michelin starred restaurants and Nordic Chefs are featured regularly on TV shows and in the British media.”

She added: “With our range, British Chefs can capitalise on this trend using quality products to provide a convenient, delicious and healthy base for their dishes.”

Herring is caught in the North Atlantic Ocean and in waters off the west coast of Norway.

Versatile whipping cream

Lactalis brand Président has launched a new UHT Whipping Cream.

With a 35% fat content, the cream is ideal for whipping, but can also be used for cooking and pouring.

Lactalis said it is ideal when used as a topping for cakes,  cream in a pastry, or as an accompaniment to puddings such as cheesecake or sticky toffee pudding. Alternatively, it can be used as a topping for hot drinks.

Once whipped, it maintains its consistency and appearance, even after refrigeration. It comes in an ambient Tetra Pak and only needs to be chilled once opened.
