Over the past five weeks, 24 venues have been holding auditions in the hunt for South Yorkshire’s next singing sensation.
The annual contest first launched last year and is designed to showcase the talent of local customers and remind people of the fun to be had in pubs.
Altogether 24 heat winners will represent their local in a grand final sing-off on Sunday 19 April at The Viper Rooms, Sheffield.
The champion will pocket £1,000 prize money and an experience at Songbirds Recording Studio to create his/her own CD.
“Whether it’s live or recorded, music is an important part of business for many of our Publicans and is a social activity that resonates with people far and wide,” Enterprise Inns divisional director Duncan Marsden said.
“The pubs involved have been brimming with excitement since the launch of the competition in February. We very much look forward to hearing this year’s talent and crowning a new winner,” Marsden added.
Agnetha Falstart and Frida Longstokin from ABBA tribute band Björn Again will sit on the judging panel alongside returning judges Gee Lananca, of Songbirds Recording Studio, and Marsden.
Last year’s winner, Jessica Armstrong, who represented Noah’s Ark, at Intake, near Doncaster, went on to win professional singing contracts, including a stint performing in Dubai.
