Camerons Brewery has announced that it will sponsor a Hartlepool adventurer £2,000 to climb Mount Everest, to raise funds for the Dreams Come True charity.

Ellis J Stewart has climbed all over the world for 20 years but said he has been focused on climbing the highest mountain in the world for the past 15.

Camerons is the first business in the County Durham town to offer support for the attempt, after members of the team met Stewart earlier in the year.

'Incredible feat'

Chris Soley, director and general manager at Camerons, said: “When I first met with Ellis I was enthused by his passion, drive and determination in tackling some of the world’s largest mountains.

“The challenge of taking on Mount Everest is an incredible feat and the training and dedication that Ellis has put into this is truly inspirational.

“We are always keen to support people within our local community and after speaking with Ellis we were delighted we could offer him help on this adventure.

“It will be very exciting to follow his progress and eventually see our Camerons flag fly proud at the summit of the world’s largest mountain”.

'Huge honour'

Stewart, who will arrive at Everest on 20 April, said: “To have the support of a local organisation, especially one with such a long and proud history as Camerons does mean everything to me.  Taking Camerons along to the top of Everest during this its 150th anniversary is a huge honour for me and I will do my very best to promote Camerons Brewery through my exploits out in Nepal”.
