BrewDog tops profit tracker list
The fast-growing brand led the list, which tracks companies with the fastest growing profits within the UK’s eating and drinking-out sector, with a compound annual growth rate of 133.6%, putting it ahead of Bill’s Restaurants (121.7%) and Ed’s Easy Diner (108.5%).
It is the second time in three years that the craft beer bar operator has topped the profit tracker list.
BrewDog co-founder James Watt said: “This prize is a testament to the passion and drive of the whole BrewDog team, and to the loyalty of our army of awesome beer fans. When we started out in 2007, our simple mission was to make people as passionate about craft beer as we were. That mission has never changed, and our phenomenal growth shows that you can build a thriving business doing what you love. Profit has never been our main drive, but our success enables us to continue to expand, launch more kick-ass bars, and spread the craft beer revolution further.”
Mark Wingett, editor of M&C Report, said: “Businesses such as BrewDog, Loungers, Hawksmoor, Be At One and Bill’s, which have all been developed and invested in during the past seven years, are becoming regulars in the top 20 of the list. It is no coincidence that a number of the brands in this year’s list, have either changed hands in the past 12 months or are tipped to before the end of this year.
“The top 10 also highlights the growth in the strength of the sector as a whole, with casual-dining operators, pubs and bars all
represented, showing that the wider industry is benefiting from a more positive economic and consumer environment.”
The two most significant entries into the list’s top 10 this year again highlight the growing momentum behind the UK’s pub sector, both in the managed and tenanted sectors. Both Stonegate and Admiral Taverns have been acquisitive in the past 12 months and invested significant sums in upgrading their respective estates.
